Kay and I pledge to St. Michael because of the countless ways the Parish has enriched our lives over nearly three decades with Bible study, worship, youth education and guidance, and so much else. But two things stand out. One is the exceptional helpfulness of the clergy on occasions when we had specific needs. The other is the warm and enthusiastic support the Parish – and notably the acolyte corps – has given our handicapped daughter. In short, our experience has been that the clergy, staff, and parishioners of St. Michael have always been there for us.

We all receive many gifts. Some of those might be health, skills, loving families, good fortune, and so on. While none of us will likely have all of the things we might want, it’s likely that we have most of what we need. Stewardship is an opportunity to share the gifts we receive with others. SMAA serves our parish families in countless ways, as well as many other communities in north Texas and elsewhere. However, the parish is not able to do its work without the support of its parishioners through time, talent and treasure. This is one of the opportunities I have to assist SMAA in its efforts to continue to enhance the lives of so many – whether its paying the electric bill at the church, or providing food and shelter to someone in a crisis.

My family and I are pleased, honored and humbled to commit each year to the Stewardship campaign. The cup-filling experiences we get from the variety of Eucharist services Saint Michael offers allows us to attend the service that best fits where we are on any given Sunday.

--Ross Vick

Making my stewardship pledge is a fulfillment of my commitment to God to give my utmost in doing his work through my church. Giving of my time and talents is also important, and when I do, I know I receive more in return than I have ever given. My stewardship gift works the same way; it truly is more blessed to give than to receive.

--Jean Coleman

Stewardship is important to me as I understand the importance of our dedication to God, our parish, and all we are capable of contributing to the community at large.

--Elizabeth Howard

For me, Stewardship is an opportunity to reflect on the many blessings God has bestowed on our world, our community, our parish, and on my family and friends. So many of God's gifts come in to our lives through Saint Michael and All Angels, and Stewardship is a tangible and meaningful response to God's grace.

--Paul Ritter

For Carolyn and me, tithing is a part of the Christian life and marriage.  The discipline of giving helps us to realize that what we have is a gift from God and that we are merely stewards of his grace.

--Wyatt Rousseau

Whenever I think about the incredible blessings that the Lord has given me, in general as a part of His creation and in particular with my family and specific gifts, my heart overflows. I am filled with excitement about giving my time, treasure and talents back to the Lord.

Anything that comes between Jesus Christ and us stands in the way of spiritual growth. In our culture, money has a powerful hold. Acquiring and keeping it has the ability to creep into a place of prominence in our list of priorities. The act of writing a check to my church each week, and placing it in the collection plate, is for me a tangible reminder that giving in response to God’s many blessings is a privilege and is also good for my spiritual life. In our family, we have found that those periods when we’ve been the most generous with our money and time have been, not coincidentally, among the most spiritually rich of times! So for me, giving isn’t about a desire to fund specific programs at Saint Michael, although that is of course important; rather it’s about keeping the spiritual pathway clear.
